9 months and surgery

Well Im a bad bad blogger. Shame on me. Oh well, Im sure everyone will get over it. Quickly.
My Lorelei Rose is 9 months already. Where does the time go? She learned to crawl, pull up and cruise all in her 8th month. This leads me to my other snippet of info about her...she is lazy. Lord is she ever lazy. She knew how to crawl for a longggg time before she decided to do it. Im convinced of it. Thats why everything came at once. She waited awhile but then all the sudden just took off! Now she is just on the go. She never once stops. She is literally into everything. I call her the carpet picker cause she literally will find the smallest piece of crap on the floor and before I know it, its in her mouth. gross I know. We vaccuum ALOT since she has been in our lives. She will also force us to be more neat people. If you know us at all we are not the most organized people. But since Lorelei likes to grab and constently mess with stuff it forces us to pick up more around the house during the day.
Anyways, more about her new goings on....she had more professional photos taken. Poor second baby, she hasnt had pics taken since she was born. opps. I know other people are guilty of this as well but I promise to be better. Gigi had pics taken at newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and a year. poo. Im so sad about that. But at least Im aware. I will be better. :)
She FINALLY got her first tooth. The bottom left. FINALLY. only took 8 freaking months. I told Tom I was very worried about her. She was so angry all the time. She never smilied. she would just cry cry cry. Very unhappy baby. The second that tooth popped through...AHHHH MOMENT! My sweet Lorelei Rose was back. I was so thrilled. I was trying to get used to having a mad, unhappy baby. I just couldnt. and thank God, now I dont need to. :) Love her. She also got her top tooth and is working on the other top tooth. I can see it through the gums but it hasnt popped yet. There is also the little white dot of the second bottom tooth.
Here are some pics of the girls photo shoot.

Now for the surgery part. So thanks to Miss Lorelei, a bone in my foot died. Nice huh? I thought so. I have very high arches in my feet and when I was pregnant with Lorelei I carried her only in my belly. Nice for weight loss only not so much for my feet. Too much tilting forward caused inflamation in tendon of my big toe. well apparently there are two small bones called Sesmiod bones in that tendon. They help you push off when running or walking. who knew!? So apparently what happened is the inflamation was so bad in that tendon that it caused blood flow to stop to one of those small bones. There is no helping it. We tried meds, an ugly boot, expensive orthodics. everything. nothing worked. bone is dead dead. So off to surgery I went. Surgery was yesterday and went really well. The Dr. told tom that when he got in there he realized the bone was very fragmented. When bone dies it will start to just fall apart after awhile. This is why there was more pain towards the end. I could barely walk from point A to B. Just walking from my car to my office was pain. When the girls at work and I would go down to the deli downstairs I would make them take the elevator up one floor cause I just couldnt walk that much. And as everyone knows that just really doesnt work with two kids. I wanted to be able to enjoy my summers and wear flip flops and go barefoot ( as anyone from the south can understand, we dont wear shoes in the summer!) and go to the zoo and be able to chase the girls. I havent been able to workout since pretty much right after having Lorelei. The pain was just too much. Forget about heels. those were out of the question since it hyperextended the toe. That doesnt work. So thats that. The bone has been removed and we are working on the pain cause the nerve block is wearing off. Boooo.
One funny thing that happened coming out of surgery was after I was finally awake the nurse asked me if I had children. I answered, yes two girls. She then asked me who was taking care of them which I thought was a tad odd. I replied my mother in law had them and that we were very lucky to have a lot of family in the area to help out. She said, well thats a relief. again...ODD. She then proceeded to say "well when you were first waking up the first thing you said was, Where are my babies! we were worried that you may have lost a child and had relived that during your surgery and being under. We thought this might be a bad coming out of it for you. That it might get emotional." Nope! Just missed my girls!
Well the meds are wearing off so I will write more later.

8 Months already!

I can not believe my Lorelei Rose is almost 8 months. Where does the time go? She is the cutest darn thing ever. So chunky and cute. She has the biggest cheeks and I just love to pinch them. Im sure she just loves that. She absolutly loves her big sister. Whenever Gigi walks in the room she just lights up. At almost 8 months she is almost crawling. Seriously any minute now she will take off. She does this hilarious thing where she gets up on her tippy toes and hands and is almost in a standing position.

She is trying desperatly to talk. This is obviously months away but she says Mama, (more like mamamamamama) and baba (more like bababababa). She more just screams at everyone and everything. She does have any teeth yet but they have to come soon. She has been teething like crazy.
Here are some recent pictures of my little angel.

I swear she is not dirty in the first one. She literally drooled that much. But how funny is it that she flips her bink around like that. She prefers it that way. hehe
The second picture is Lorelei on the night before Christmas Eve. Aint she sweet?!

Blizzard of 2009!

So we are DEEP in snow! Its crazy!!!! I love snow, cause it means you get to stay in, eat what you want, stay in your pjs all day and watch movies (Christmas movies to be exact). What a special Christmas we are turning out to have. White Christmas with my lil family of four!
Today we woke up to 3 inches of snow on the ground. It was awesome! Both girls are sick, snotty noses, gigi has a bad cough, and fevers. Lovely! I did make it out this morning with Gigi while Lorelei was sleeping. We didnt last long before her button nose was running something terrible.
We are supposed to get 20 inches before this is over.
Here are some pictures of Georgia outside this morning. I will update with photos of the girls later.

Who Knew?????

So, I got an email from a friend the other day telling me about how much her little boy is loving preschool and I started to wonder that maybe Gigi is missing out. She doesnt go to daycare (which Im very happy about) I love the fact that Gigi gets to stay at home with family. But I fear that she misses some much needed peer socialization. She has friends, dont get me wrong, but they are friends I chose for her since they are my friends children. I just feel that she needs the chance to hang out with friends and I feel like she will have a ton of fun. Gigi is a very outgoing and fun child. She just loves other people.
So, more to the point...I started researching some local preschools. When I got on their websites they said that their open houses start in JANUARY! for the next year! WHAT??? I was thinking, like Late spring or something. Good thing I checked! So we are on the list for a tour of a place down the street and another one right down the road. Im extremely excited but also a little anxious. Georgia is my special baby. Dont yell at me and tell me thats not fair to Lorelei, obviously both my girls are special but Gigi is my baby that I feared would never get this chance. The baby that I was told would not be "normal", the baby I was told I should terminate, the baby I was told would most definitely have some sort of syndrome and I feared would never go to school, or walk, or have friends or get married. Everything this child does will throw me into sobs of tears. Tears of joy! We proved those doctors wrong, didnt we baby! So when she walked, I cried, When she talked, I cried and now that she is just perfect, I cry (alot when I think of what we have all been through). So when she goes to her first day of school I will prob have to take off work cause I will be a mess. A happy mess, but a mess nonetheless.
So back to the point...Im pretty sure we will choose Hope Preschool which is right down our street. This way, we can put the baby in the stroller and literally walk to pick her up from school. Plus everyone raves about this school. So we go in Jan to tour it and talk with the teachers. Im just thrilled. She is going to have so much fun and I just know she will grow, emotionally and mentally with this. Im excited to buy her a little bookbag (do they have those in preschool?) and "school clothes" and for her to have her first little "best friend" (tom said it HAS to be a girl. haha). ekkkkkkkkkkkk i cant contain myself!!!!!!!!!! stay tuned for more on this. :)

Christmas is in the air!

This is one of my absolute favorite time of year! Snow is on the ground (ok maybe not yet but it may be coming soon!), people are busy busy and doing a ton of shopping and viewing of Christmas decorations. I love Christmas carols and lights on trees and big gawdy looking blow up snowmen in the yards. Its all just GREAT. I especially love watching the magic of Christmas through a childs eyes. Having my old Children has made this holiday much more enjoyable. Georgia loves it as much as I do. She gets super excited to see people have put their lights up and loves to tell everyone what we got them. She loves Santa and had a great time seeing him at the Mall and telling him, "My baby name Lorelei".
Obviously we have not forgotten what this holiday season is truely about. Church is seen differently by Tom and I. He likes going to Church and while I dont mind going, I don't feel I have to go to Church in order to have a relationship with God. You may not agree with me or my beliefs (which believe it or not arent that much different then most peoples) but it works for me. Both our children are baptized Catholic (which my family wasnt too thrilled about) b.c it was important for Tom. Which Im ok with. Its not that I dont believe you should be baptized I just think it should be left up to the individual. I dont believe someone should impose their beliefs on someone else child or not. I'm still a spiritual person just dont feel it needs to be so structured. I hope I dont sound like a devil child. haha
I love God. I believe in Jesus. I dont know bible stories but I do believe in a higher power. THERE does that work. haha So, Georgia and Lorelei know what Christmas is really about. They know that a baby was born and that this baby saved ALL the children. (How much do you expect an almost 3 year old to understand haha)
We did take the girls to Toms chruch the other day and both did very well. I thought for sure Gigi would yell out at her granddad (Big Mike) since he was an Usher or that Lorelei would scream in the middle of it. But neither did it and I was very proud of them.
We recently went to a farm in Middleburg and cut down our own Christmas tree. (dont get me started on the bugs ew) here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

Sweet Summer nights.

I love just sitting on our back deck on a nice summer night, eating dinner, watching the kids play, and having a drink with my husband and good friends. THAT is the good life my friends.
Tonight our neighbors, Kris and Caroline came over to hang out. They brought their little twins Madeline and Paige, who by the way, Georgia can tell apart, even though they are identical! It blows my mind every time we test her and she gets it right. She knows which one is madeline and which one is paige every single time. Kids apparently are very good at getting it. Even their father has a hard time telling them apart. haha. We really enjoy spending time with them. They have pretty much the same (sick) sense of humor that Tom and I have, so we always have good laughs.
The kids played in the baby pool that we have on our deck. of course the pics of this is hilarious cause each kid had some toy in their mouth. Gigi was using her bubble blower as a drinking fountain! (that diaper will be awesome to change in the middle of the night!), Paige had a crap squirt toy, and Madeleine had a plastic water gun in her mouth. I got a picture of this and will add it later.

Back work

So I started back to work today. Let me just say it was very hard. I cried in the car on the way to work, teared up all day long at my desk, and cried on the way home. When I got home all I did was play with gigi, to the point where she told me "mommy, let go me". haha good thing I have another kid that cant tell me that yet.

Speaking of that little sweet pea, she is sooooo sweet. She hardly ever cries unless she needs something, a diaper change or a bottle. She sometimes cries cause she wants to be put down and left alone. She doesnt always like people holding her. Which is actually a nice thing since Im also chasing around a 2 year old. Also (and this is huge!) Lorelei has pretty much slept through the night since we brought her home. At first she was up every 4 hours. But that was maybe one night. And then it was 6 hours at night and then up every 3 hours during the day. She is just really a great baby. I couldnt have asked for better. and really, thank goodness, cause Gigi is still crazy as ever. She just goes from sun up to sun down. I love that kid! she is sooo funny and is learning new things everyday. it just amazes me.

Well I will try to update more often. you know, when I have time. haha
